In this technological age, when all you have to do is press a button to spit out 200 mailing labels for your invitations, why shouldn't you? Because, unless you are mailing out a flyer for your customers or a newsletter about an upcoming sale at your business, it is just not in good taste. When it comes to your wedding invitations and any other personal correspondence, the address should be either handwritten, in machine calligraphy (matching your correspondence font) or you can use an envelope wrap which is a decorative label that wraps around your envelope with a return address and usually incorporates both design elements and fonts from your correspondence. Always use a return address and just like the label for mass mailings, you should never use a return address label for personal correspondence. If for some reason the Post Office couldn't mail your correspondence, they need to know who to return it to. Before you mail your wedding invitations, you should take one fully assembled invitation to the Post Office to be weighed for the correct postage. Most invitations will be over the 1oz. weight, be oddly shaped, or contain rigid objects and require additional postage. It is always best to have them weighed so that they do not get returned for additional postage. Remember, you have attended to every single little detail of your wedding, so make sure that your guests will get their invitations by addressing this issue.
