HUNTSVILLE, AL -- Jeff Anderson knows his way around the Madison County school board.

Anderson, 51, has represented the school system's District 5 for 12 years. He is seeking a third six-year term this November, battling newcomer Benjamin Bird for the seat.

Anderson said Friday that he does not know much about his opponent, but that he feels he is the more seasoned candidate.

"I know and understand the issues," said Anderson, a program manager for Lockheed Martin. "I have a good professional relationship with both local and state leadership."
