Johnson HS Students Pepper Sprayed During Lunchtime Brawl

By: William Martin, HNW

Several students at Johnson High were hit by pepper spray during two fights involving around 10 students at lunch Wednesday, police said.

In a statement spokesman Harry Hobbs said a fight involving two girls started in the lunchroom around noon.

Teachers broke up that fight; however, another started up involving six or seven boys. Police officers were able to stop that fight but only after using the spray.

As the officers were using the spray three or four boys ran from the building to avoid arrest.

Hobbs said three boys were taken into custody and transported to the Neaves-Davis Juvenile Home.

Disciplinary action against the girls will be handled by the school.

One other girl was taken to Crestwood Hospital after she inhaled pepper spray.

She is expected to be fine, Hobbs said.

No motive for the fighting was released.
