Wild Wild Weather Day coming to Sci-Quest

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Weather takes center stage on Saturday, Nov. 20 when WHNT Chief Meteorologist Dan Satterfield visits Sci-Quest, Hands-on Science Center for Wild Wild Weather Day. Satterfield will be on-hand for this annual event from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. to give visitors of all ages an in-depth look at weather.

Wild Wild Weather Day will feature various weather presentations by Satterfield about severe weather, cloud formations, and arctic science. There will also be showings of Sci-Quest’s Virtual Vortex, which is an interactive 3D severe weather presentation. Created by Sci-Quest, Virtual Vortex helps visitors understand the physics of an air mass, the weight of a cloud, and how clouds and tornadoes are formed.

Along with the weather and Virtual Vortex presentations, there will be hands-on weather activities and a display of real weather instruments used by meteorologists, including a glass barometer and a large rain gauge.

“Dan has over 30 years of weather experience and we are excited to partner with this true expert for this event,” said Angela Giles-Moulton, education director at Sci-Quest. “Dan is bringing many of his own personal pictures and stories to present at this event and along with hands-on activities. It promises to be a fun, exciting and informative day.”

Wild Wild Weather Day is free with general admission to Sci-Quest. Adults are $9 and children at $8. For more information about Wild Wild Weather Day, visit www.sci-quest.org or call 256-837-0606.
